Read this first
If your hair is matted right now, do not put anything on it
This is the most useful thing on this page, and it costs you nothing. In my own case files, going back to 2020, 89% of recorded DIY attempts failed and made the restoration harder.
- Keep the hair dry. Water and water-based products are not your friend while hair is matted.
- No conditioner, no treatments, no detangling sprays. Nothing left on for hours, nothing overnight.
- No coconut oil. It sets solid, turns sticky, and becomes very hard to remove.
- No olive oil. It is slippery for a while, then hardens and glues strand to strand.
- Fingers only, on dry hair, and only if the strands still separate on their own.
- Hair that is not yet matted can be braided loosely into several small three-strand plaits, so it does not worsen.
No product works magic without a professional who has looked at the case. Every head is different, and what helps one can worsen another. Sometimes doing nothing is better than doing something uninformed.

Knots a comb still moves through, with small mats starting to form. 3 to 5 hours.

Dense tangling that needs professional tools. 6 to 9 hours.

Finger-first restoration
90% of the work is done by hand, always tips-to-roots. When a strand resists, I skip it and work its neighbour. Strand by strand, the tangle gives way.

Each freed section is braided for protection, then treated with a deep conditioning formula. You leave with a personalised aftercare plan, plus 30 days of follow-up support.
